Applications / General information

Application Process closed!

We are currently recruiting for open positions in Berlin, for PhD student positions that are funded for initially three years. Candidates are generally expected to hold a Masters degree in a relevant subject (e.g. molecular biology, biochemistry, biological engineering, biophysics, bioinformatics, computational and systems biology).

Before you start your application process you need to register via our admissions system.

You will be required to submit the following documents:

  • Application Form (will be provided after registration)
  • Copies of certificates and transcripts of records
  • Two letters of reference must be sent by the referees by email directly to <> within the deadline. Please ask your referees to use "Reference letter for PhD applicant <your name>" as a subject line!

You can also submit additional documents:

  • CV in any format (e.g. if it contains supportive information not asked for in the application form)
  • Proof of proficiency in English (if you are not a native speaker or have studied for at least one term at an English-speaking school or university; strongly encouraged for applicants outside of Europe and North America)

Application deadline is September 15, 2018. You are welcome to apply after the deadline but we cannot guarantee that your application will still be fully considered. You can select up to three topics you are interested in; shortlisted candidates will be invited to introduce themselves at a matching and recruitment event in Berlin in November. The starting date of the program is January 2019.

Please feel free to contact our PIs for more information about individual projects!
